| Course Description: Open to graduates of the Trial Lawyers College 3-Week Course and to eligible students enrolled in the 7-Step Certification Program. Our Graduate courses are intensive, one-week trial skills programs. They are designed for advanced practitioners of TLC methods. While the Graduate courses focus on trial skills, they do so through a holistic approach by encompassing all parts of the trial with psychodrama. With psychodrama as the foundation, the TLC faculty calls upon students' creativity to find new and innovative answers to the most challenging questions of trial practice. |
| Staff: TLC Faculty Leaders: Joey Low, John Zelbst. TLC Faculty Members: Maren Chaloupka, JR Clary, Haytham Faraj, Rafe Foreman, Mel Orchard, John Sloan, Phil Stackhouse, Sylvia Torres-Guillen, Anne Valentine, Colby Vokey. Psychodramatists: Don Clarkson, Michael Traynor. Guests: Erwin Chemerinsky (Founding dean, UC Irvine Law; Constitutional law scholar); Sal Guinta (US Army former staff sergeant, 1st living person since Vietnam War to receive Medal of Honor); Rex Parris (Accomplished civil trial lawyer/lecturer). |
| Prerequisites: You must be a graduate of Trial Lawyers College 3-Week Course or eligible to graduate from the 7-Step Certification Program. |

| Travel Information and Shuttle Service: LOCATION: Thunderhead Ranch is located in west-central Wyoming, approximately 25 miles east of Dubois, 105 miles northeast of Jackson, and 75 miles northwest of Riverton. FLIGHTS: You can fly into either Jackson or Riverton, both of which are 2 – 3 hours from Thunderhead Ranch. RENTAL CARS: Rental car agencies are located in Jackson and Riverton. For driving directions, go to: www.triallawyerscollege.org/Documents/DirectionsToThunderheadRanch.pdf. NO SHUTTLE SERVICE: For our Graduate and Advanced courses, TLC does not provide shuttle transportation from Jackson or Riverton to Thunderhead Ranch. You have three options: (1) rent a car; (2) post a message on the TLC Alumni or trialwarriorsforjustice listserve, or your class listserve; and/or (3) post a message on our Ride Share Message Board: www.triallawyerscollege.org/RegisteredUsers/RideShare.aspx. (TLC will not provide you with the Grad I class roster or a list of e-mail addresses.) If you are renting a car (or driving your own) and have extra seats, please lend a hand to your fellow Warriors by posting a message. |
| Food, Lodging, and Roommates: Meals are served buffet style. The dorm rooms are small and spartan (with two each of the following: twin bed, nightstand, table, chair, closet area). You will be sharing a room with a lawyer of the same sex. The men’s and women’s restrooms and showers are located at the end of the hallway. We provide a pillow and bedding (pillowcase, sheets, blanket, bedspread), but you need to bring your own towels and toiletries (e.g., shampoo, soap, lotion, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, earplugs). A laundry room is available for your use and laundry soap is available for purchase. Due to space limitations, TLC is unable to provide housing to accommodate your family or friends. | What to Wear and Stuff to Bring: Casual Dress: Plan to dress in comfort, not in style. When you’re indoors, sneakers, jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts and summer outfits are appropriate. Bring a bathrobe, too. When you’re outdoors, cotton clothing is fine for warm days but has minimal insulating value, especially when wet. In August, temperatures in Dubois range from 77° F (average high) to 42° F (average low). The average daytime temperature is 60° F and the evenings are cool. Bring wool and synthetic clothing that can be comfortably layered. Optional outdoor gear includes: rain/wind jacket and pants, down or fleece coat, leather or water-resistant hiking boots, good socks, long underwear, winter hat, winter gloves or mittens, baseball cap, flashlight or headlamp, water bottle, camera, daypack, sunscreen and insect repellant. For class time, bring a notebook or journal and a pen. Bring a hardcopy of your flight itinerary, coins for the soda machine, and a phone card to make long-distance calls (because cellular service is limited and Internet access is not available, except in emergency situations). If you’re a musician, bring your instrument! |
Cancellation and Refund Policy: The entire balance for a TLC course is due 90 days after the first day of the course, unless other arrangements have been made with the Registrar. Tuition payments are non-transferable to a future course or to a substitute participant. Cancellations must be e-mailed to TLC's Registrar, registrar@triallawyerscollege.org. Cancellations received at least 14 calendar days prior to the course will receive a full refund. Cancellations received 13 - 3 calendar days prior to the course will receive a 50% refund. We regret that no refunds can be made within 2 days of the start date of the course, or after the course begins. |
